Storybooks for Healing (SFH) was co-founded in 2008 by Melanie Davis and Joan Hitchens. Since its inception as a self-help book for storybook publishing, S4H has evolved into a stronger and more effective program for professional use by the bereavement industry.
Storybooks For Healing began after the very personal loss of its co-founder, Melanie Davis. In February, 2002, Melanie's precious 7 month old daughter Brynn died unexpectedly of SIDS. With strong faith and through sharing Brynn’s storybook, Melanie has found comfort and helped many others with their grief. Because of her experience, she and Joan Hitchens co-founded Storybook for Healing with its mission to help grievers find purpose in tragedy and heal through writing and service by sharing thier stories.
