About Storybooks For Healing

Turning Tragedy into Triumph

Storybooks for Healing (S4H) is designed to lift you above your grief and view your loss from the perspective of a journalist or researcher into the life of your loved one. In the S4H Workbook you record your memories of the person who died so their spirit, characteristics and values can live on. The writing exercises will help you focus on your loss and reactions to sorrow, and then discover the hidden gifts found in all tragedies as you write through the four Storybooks for Healing sections:

  • Celebration of Life

  • The Sorrow

  • Purpose, Gratitude and Joy

  • Looking Ahead with Hope

As you write throughout the eight week program, you will share experiences, discoveries and more within your small, safe, facilitated group. Together, you can find great strength. At the end of the group program, the writing from your Workbook becomes the basis for publishing a unique hardbound, healing storybook that can be shared with posterity and others who will be inspired by your story.

The S4H program may be intense at times, as it challenges you to find words to express the experience which brings pain and sorrow. Just as working with a personal trainer can sculpt a strong and beautiful body, the Storybooks for Healing journey will help awaken your inner strength through conscientious effort. This, in turn, can assist you through your grief to recover the life you want to live. With S4H, you don't have to forget, because remembering has its own book.

Are you ready to get started? Are you ready to ease your pain and truly discover a life of joy and meaning in the midst of loss? Is it time to find the lessons buried in loss and use that wisdom to make your life, and the lives of others, better because of your experience? Then join your nearest S4H program and let the stories begin!
